Location : Nimes/Uzes/Avignon / Languedoc-Roussillon / FranceThis attractive two bedroomed Gite is on the first floor of a 100 year old stone house village of St Hilaire D’Ozilhan. It has been completely modernised and decorated throughout in a simple traditional Provencal style. The apartment has private access via an external spiral staircase, a private courtyard and secure private parking. Our local key holder is English. She will show you the apartment on arrival and check you out on departure. She lives in the village and knows the area well. The Gite is listed with the Remoulins tourist office and has received classification of 'deux cléfs' (two keys) from the Clévacances registration body. This offers you peace of mind it has been officially inspected and approved. The accommodation of approximately 60 sq metres comprises: * Kitchen/dining/living area. A modern and well-equipped kitchen is at one end, adjacent is the the dining area, and at the far end is the seating area with two couches providing comfortable seating for four with a wall mounted flat screen television. * Shower room. * Bedroom one with double bed. * Bedroom two with two single beds. *Toilet. *From the kitchen area, an external spiral staircase leads down to a small, traditional courtyard/garden with a wooden table and four chairs. A barbecue is built-in against one wall, with a lavender plant in the centre and honeysuckle and a vine growing up the front wall. This area also offers scope for secure parking behind the lockable front gates. St Hilaire D’Ozilhan is a delightful traditional sleepy French village situated on the border of Languedoc-Rousillon and Provence in the beautiful wine growing region of Cote du Rhone. It has one boulangerie, one quiet bar, and one restaurant located in the hotel. There is a church, a town hall, a petanque square and five wineries. The old part of the village has quaint buildings, narrow streets, arches, and is typically French. It is surrounded by fields of vines and olive trees. It is quiet and relaxing. The Gite is ideally suited for access to so many of the top tourist attractions of the Region. The nearest and most famous is the world heritage site of the Pont du Gard. As well as the bridge, the river becomes a hive of family activity in the summer. There is swimming in the river, small ‘beach’ areas and canoes to hire. There are two restaurants. For the more active there are opportunities for kayaking, cycling, walking, riding and swimming. To the North of St Hilaire d’Ozilhan the ancient town of Uzes is just twenty minutes leisurely drive away. The medieval town is a maze of small streets and shaded squares lined with 17th and 18th century private residences. To the West you have the city of Nimes with its Roman amphitheatre. A similar distance to the East is the world famous city of Avignon with its famous Pont d’Avignon. Finally to the South there is the dramatic Camargue.

This renovated farmhouse is still owned by the same welcoming French farming family who have worked this rolling landscape for generations.

The house is part of a farm which has all kinds of poultry and is surrounded by wheat and sunflower fields extending over 100 hectares.

The little village of Laurac-le-Grand was at one time the capital of the region of Lauragais and has some interesting sights to offer: the village church, a ruined castle and parts of fortifications dating back to the 11th, 13th and 16th centuries.
Magnificent views can be enjoyed from the 341 metre high “Pierre Levée”, enabling you to look out over 7 Départements.
The village baker visits us every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with freshly baked bread and croissant - delicious
Civilization is not too far away, our nearest large town of Castelnaudary, better known for its famous cassoulet is only 10 minutes away.
A place worth visiting is the impressive and imposing Cite of Carcassonne, steeped in local history since time began, today a world heritage site.
